Our sustainability policy

Sustainability

Responsible travel is a practical commitment: reducing our impact, working with local communities and improving our choices over time.

What guides us

A slower way to travel should also be a fairer way to travel

Ferula Viaggi – Slow Italy Tours is committed to minimizing its environmental impact, strengthening sustainable practices and encouraging travellers, partners and suppliers to take action. We treat sustainability as an ongoing process: policies are monitored, evaluated and improved with dedicated people and resources.

Every excursion designed by us, or on our behalf, should respect local customs, cultural integrity, natural resources and the communities that make Basilicata and Puglia so meaningful to visit.

Our commitments

Small choices, repeated carefully

Responsible tourism is made of decisions that seem small until they are repeated: who we work with, where we send travellers, how we speak about places and how we reduce avoidable impact.

Local

Local economy

We involve guides, hosts and suppliers rooted in the territories.

Slow

Lower-impact rhythms

Walking, cycling and longer stays help travellers see more while rushing less.

Care

Respect for places

Routes are designed with attention to landscapes, heritage and community life.

Work

Continuous improvement

Sustainability is treated as something to monitor, adjust and improve.

Travelife standard

A framework that keeps us accountable.

Travelife is a certification programme for tour operators and travel agents based on international sustainable tourism standards and fair business practices. The standard includes labour conditions, human rights, environment, biodiversity and fair business practices.

The Travelife Partner Award recognizes our commitment to social and environmental sustainability. We currently comply with more than 100 criteria related to sustainability management, office operations, suppliers and customer communication, and we are working towards the Travelife Certified stage.

Code of conduct

Responsible travel also depends on clear behaviour

Our code of conduct turns sustainability into daily practice: how we work, how we choose partners, how we treat people and how travellers are invited to respect the places they visit.

How we run our business

Ethical business

We run a respectable business, reject bribery and corruption, and act according to fair competition and good business practices.

Inclusion and diversity

We take equality and inclusion seriously, working so that nobody is discriminated against because of age, disability, ethnicity, gender, religion, beliefs or sexual orientation.

Human rights and labour

We respect human rights and labour laws, and we aim to work with partners and suppliers who share the same requirements.

External relations

We ask our partners, suppliers and subcontractors to work with transparency, environmental care and ethical responsibility.

How travellers can help

Walking and trekking holidays bring freedom, but also shared responsibilities: safety, respect for other participants and care for fragile places.

  • Do not leave the group on unfamiliar routes without informing your companion or guide.
  • Do not overtake the leader at the head of the group.
  • Do not throw waste or cigarette butts on the ground.
  • Do not light fires.
  • Do not remove archeological finds or natural elements.
  • Do not take photos or videos where it is not allowed.
